The Role...

This role is to work on one of our FanDuel sportsbook platform teams. FanDuel is the premier gaming destination in the United States, FanDuel Group consists of a portfolio of leading brands across gaming, sports betting, daily fantasy sports, advance-deposit wagering, and TV/media, including FanDuel, Betfair US, and TVG. FanDuel Group has a presence across 45 states and 8 million customers.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll work with the Quality Engineering team to deliver and enhance test infrastructure at platform and client levels to help facilitate the successful release of quality products

Reporting to a Quality Engineering Manager you will be using cutting-edge technologies to deliver amazing value to our customers, while scaling our platform to meet the demands of worldwide markets. You will be required to program well-designed, testable, efficient code to solve business needs, as well as testing and documenting the implemented solutions.

What You'll be Doing... 

As a team player in an Agile Environment, working together to keep delivering at pace, scale and with demanded quality to support our products you will be able to:

  • Design and develop technical solutions or processes;
  • Create and confirm high-quality requirements with internal stakeholders
  • Suggest alternative methodologies that may be more efficient and actively improve the tooling to improve use cases
  • Tackle tasks by researching and weighing up the pros and cons of various routes to select the right approach
  • Be an expert in your primary programming language, and be competent in others
  • Be an expert in your domain (business and tech) who can guide your team on the best approach for large pieces of work which span multiple components and teams.
  • Document and maintain software functionality;
    Key Influencer in platform test strategy (Proof of concepts, spiking key initiatives with senior engineering peers) You breakdown work that forms a single cohesive delivery

What We're Looking For... 

  • Has at least 3 years of proven track record of working with Java (preferable, 8+) or similar OOP Languages in a software developer role At least 5 years experience in automating testing infrastructures
  • Has experience working with a high concurrency/high transactional platform
  • Used to work with Client-server protocols such as SOAP, REST;
  • Understand the dependencies between components and how they combine to deliver service to the consumer and business; Easily recognise system deficiencies and implement effective solutions;
  • Has expertise using established design patterns;
  • Passion to automate your work by using scripting languages e.g. Shell scripts.
  • Encourages appropriate use of reusability techniques (e.g. design patterns, library extraction, new component creation); Supports and mentor other colleagues.

We ́d love to see...

  • Experience working with message queueing systems;
  • Experience in behaviour driven test frameworks
  • Experience in building test infrastructure as part of a continuous delivery pipeline Awareness and experience in using agile methodologies.
  • Passion for building a great consumer product that our customers will love;
  • Ability to interact effectively with other functional teams;
  • Excellent communicator, common sense and a passion for the art of problem solving Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies, e.g. AWS or Azure.
